***What if my child has limited swim experience? Our primary objective is to put on an event that brings joy to the kids in a safe environment. We will have lifeguards on duty, as well as volunteers to monitor the swimmers in the lanes. We will allow the use of arm floats, PuddleJumpers, or lifejackets.
Can my child have training wheels on their bike? Yes! Any bike is acceptable as long as it is only powered by your athlete.
Can I run with my child anywhere on the course? No. To ensure the safety of our children we ask that you refrain from running alongside your athlete. We will have plenty of bike and run support through our volunteers.
How do I know what age group to sign my child up for during registration? You should sign your child up for the age group based on their age as of 12/31/2024. For example, if your child is 6 when you register, but will be 7 before 12/31/2024, they would register under the 7-8 age group.
What is included with registration? A race t-shirt, swim cap, and swag bag at packet pickup.
Why do I need to purchase a USAT membership for my child? All races that are USAT sanctioned require participants to hold a current USAT membership. Annual youth memberships are good for 1 year from date of purchase. If you purchase a USAT membership for your child upon registration, it would cover any USAT-sanctioned triathlon that your child chooses to participate in for those 365 days. Will there be awards? Yes! Awards will be given for the top three finishers, male and female, in each age group.
When and where is packet pickup? Specific information about packet pickup will be emailed to all participants and updated here when we have more details closer to the race. ****packet pick up will ONLY be held on race morning!***
Can you mail me my athlete's race packet? No. Due to USAT sanctioning, we are not permitted to mail registration packets
How will this race be timed? Race timing is provided by Tri Cycle and Run. Each athlete will receive a timing chip - the chips will be distributed to each athlete before they enter transition. Use the provided band to attach the timing chip to your athlete's ankle for the duration of the race. Each time the athlete crosses a timing mat, a time will register. For example, the race starts when your athlete enters the pool, and the final swim time is calculated when the athlete crosses the timing mat into the transition area. (The swim time is the time spent actually swimming in the pool PLUS the time it takes them to cross the mat into transition - not just the swim itself.) The timing for the bike portion starts when your racer crosses the timing mat leaving transition with their bike, and ends when they cross the timing mat back into transition at the end of their loop (or loops, depending on age). The timing for the run portion starts when they cross the timing mat leaving transition after dropping off their bike, and ends when they cross the timing mat at the finish line after completing their run. Volunteers will take the chip off you child's ankle after they cross the finish line.
What if it rains? The event will be held rain or shine, as long as it's safe for our athletes. Tropical Storm update as of 8/7/24 - the storm has shifted and we should be in the clear for race day. As of right now, the triathlon will be taking place as planned. Any changes will be communicated via this website, email, and social media.
What time should I arrive on race day? Please arrive by 7 AM to make sure your athlete has time to pick up their packets and timing chips, and set up in the transition area. Welcome, announcements and the National Anthem will start at 7:45 AM. The race will begin at 8 AM.
Where should I park on race day? (UPDATED map for 2024 due to weather conditions) Please see this map for more info! Parking will be at Kinder Farm Park.
